Recs Assistant is a personal assistant that helps people save and retrieve trusted recommendations (like restaurants, books, or products) from friends. Users interact with the assistant via WhatsApp or SMS to submit and retrieve their personal recs.How it works
A user sends a recommendation (e.g., “Shuka in NYC”) via WhatsApp. The assistant categorizes it and stores it. The user can later ask: “What was that Mediterranean place I saved?” and the assistant replies with the rec!
Why we built it
Discovery is broken. In an age where information is seemingly always available at your fingertips - why is it so hard to get high quality recommendations from people you trust? IG/TikTok saves, group chats, untrustworthy internet reviews and a messy notes app - this is our “system” for recs today. How many times have you opened your google maps, with hundreds of things saved, only to wonder - what the heck was that wine bar I saved last week that Meha recommended!?Saving and sharing trusted recommendations should be as easy as texting a friend. After all, that’s what we’re doing anyway. So, that’s what I built. It’s an AI-powered conversational assistant for your recommendations. Think of it like a ChatGPT, but for your and your friends recs, that helps you store, enrich, and share recommendations with your trusted circle of friends.Recs Assistant is an informational tool. We do not sell any goods or services via WhatsApp or this website.
